og, a booklover, opens a bookstore, expecting a flood of customers, but is disappointed in the lack of traffic (perhaps resembling reality a little too much in this day and age of dwindling independent bookstores).

ather than stew about it, Dog simply picks up a book and immerses himself in it. He is so carried away with the story that he forgets about the empty store and doesn't notice when he starts to get customers.
T
he pencil drawings are soft and unadorned, the words are basic, and the message is simple but powerful: when you have books, you are never alone, but simultaneously, books bring people together because they are meant to be shared. And that is a timely and important message to send to the next generation of readers.
