t is my birthday and I really think I need a cake to celebrate. I've got a cake recipe but there are a lot of ingredients. What I'm going to do is ask all my animal friends to pitch in and help collect everything I need.
C
hicken gets some eggs, Little Bear asks his mom for flour, and Cat raids the refrigerator for butter and milk. Little Pig helps by getting a pinch of salt, and Dog buys some sugar at the store. Now all we need are a few cherries for the top of my birthday cake. Thank goodness, Monkey can climb way up in the tree for fresh, ripe cherries.
N
ow we are ready to make the cake. Once it is finished and comes out of the oven, I thank everyone. They look a little sad because they think I'm going to eat the whole thing myself. Silly animals! Of course I want all of them to sit down and help me celebrate.
I
f you'd like to join in the fun, ask your mom or dad to get this board book for you. You'll even find my cake recipe at the back of the book so you can make a real cake yourself (or help someone make it for you!)
T
his also would be a nifty present to give a child three or older who is celebrating his or her own birthday. Who doesn't love a birthday cake?
