That often becomes very apparent when you move. In this picture book a cat shares how he loves his house and the little boy who takes good care of him. Unfortunately, one day the household is disrupted by the arrival of a moving van and now the cat must adjust to living in a high-rise apartment. Obviously, the cat is not a happy camper. Not ready to accept all these changes in his once peaceful life, the disgruntled feline stays hidden under the boy's bed. Eventually, he does emerge and discovers his new surroundings offer all sorts of interesting diversions. There are new rooms to explore and some interesting places to hide but, best of all, there are plenty of windows the cat can gaze out of. Not only do cats need some adjustment time to new surroundings but children often do too. Reading this book with a youngster who isn't too thrilled about moving might help alleviate some of the child's reluctance to leave his or her familiar surroundings.
