A
my Husband's
Dear Teacher
is packaged as an envelope that must be opened to view its
Top Secret
contents! They have been put together by a boy named Michael (whose picture is stuck on the front, along with that of his dog Bruno).
I
nside is a letter from the Principal of Sunnybank Elementary School welcoming the youngster to a new year of '
lots of learning!
' Michael's expression says it all. A series of
Dear Teacher
letters follow, in which Michael gives all sorts of reasons why he '
might be a bit late for the first day of school.
'
H
e and Bruno are recruited for a secret service mission; rescue an explorer from the top of Mount Everest; search for a treasure map in Egypt by motorcycle; boat up the croc-filled Amazon; are forced to walk the plank by pirates; journey by plane and Orient Express; and finally take on a space mission for NASA.
I
bet Michael thought he had it all covered, but his teacher, Miss Brooks, sends a letter back to him - and it's a winner! Any child (or their parent) who's dreading that first day of school will chortle over
Dear Teacher
, and admire both Michael's fertile imagination and Miss Brook's sage handling of it.
