'Buttocks is the formal name - and no two buttocks are the same,' writes Bennett. 'Butts can come in every size. Some will droop and others rise.' But this is just the beginning of this humorous investigation of the lowly part of human anatomy. By the time your are finished you'll learn that the butt goes by various names (i.e. tuchas, keister, derriere and bum) depending on where you live. And if you are looking for a more delicate way of referring to your butt, you might use fanny, bottom, heinie, rear end or behind. Size can also be a source of humor or amazement if one compares the butts of various animals. While mouse butts are small and giraffe butts are tall, consider the size of an elephant or hippo's back door! Of course, the butt has a very practical side. If you didn't have one where would you place your underpants? How would you use a toilet seat? Or, more importantly, ride a bike? By the time you get to the final page of this butt-funny picture book you'll chime in with the author. 'Bottoms up! Hip, hip, hooray! Our useful butts are here to stay.' And remember, 'Don't undercut your butt, my friend. Your butt will thank you in ... the end!' Both children ages five and older and adults will find this silly picture book amusing. Mike Lester's tasteful but laugh provoking illustrations provide the visual component that completes the package and makes this butt book so outrageously funny.
