M
y good friend Goose and I were having a splendid time playing together one day when something happened that nearly wrecked our friendship.
A
long came a little red fox who asked, '
Hey, can I play?
'
'
Sure, jump tight in,
' replied Goose.
A
nd that's when all the trouble started! First, Little Fox changed the game to hop-scotch. Well, that didn't work for me since I'm a great big polar bear and not too agile on my paws.
T
hen Little Fox wanted to play checkers. Well, only two people can play that game at a time and you know who was left watching. Me! That's the way the rest of the afternoon went with me left out of all the fun, so I decided to go home.
W
hen Goose saw me get ready to leave, he called me back. Then Little Fox's feelings were hurt and he cried out, '
What about me?
'
'
Bear is my big, old, sometimes frumpy friend,
' said Goose. '
You can be our new friend. So, do you want to play with us?
'
Y
ou noticed Goose said,
with US
? So, if Little Fox wanted to stay he had to include me in the games we played too. Well, that's what happened and now we play together and no one is left out.
I
guess that's the key to friendship - making sure you don't hurt someone's feelings by excluding him or her from an activity. Obviously, Goose is my very best friend.
