I
really hate my old, worn, squeaky, brown tie shoes. They are so not in. In fact, they are totally terrible and make me feel totally uncool. My older sister Penelope has some really nice patent pumps, so I asked if I could borrow them.

he said '
No way, Louise! These shoes are only for la-di-da occasions, not school!
' What a bummer! But then I knew I just had to get a pair of la-di-da shoes with sparkles on them so I could be a big cheese like Penelope.

ell, fat chance! My mom disregarded my desires and we came home with another pair of oh-so-uncool, brown tie shoes. Then to make it worse, my best friend, Fern, walked into school the next day wearing an unbelievable pair of - you guessed it - LA-DI-DA SHOES!

'll let you read my picture book to see what I discovered about Fern's shoes and why we quickly became friends again. There's probably a good message in my story too, but I think I'll let you figure it out. Like me, you might decide that owning la-di-da stuff and wanting to be a big cheese may not always be such a totally radical idea!
