A Touch of Dead    by Charlaine Harris Order:  USA  Can Ace, 2009 (2009) Softcover, e-Book      Reviewed by Lyn Seippel Sookie Stackhouse, star of the Southern Vampire mysteries, shares some of her less stressful adventures in this collection of short stores. A Touch of Dead includes a cameo of Bubba; Dracula as a celebrity guest; plus the usual fairies, weres and vampires. In Fairy Dust, Sookie is asked to help her twin fairy friends, Claudine and Claude, find the person who killed their sister Claudette. Sookie didn't realize there was a Claudette or that the twins were actually triplets. In Dracula Night, Sookie is invited to a party at Fangtasia, a vampire night club in Shreveport. The party is an annual affair to celebrate Prince Dracula's birthday. The vamps are always hopeful that the Lord of Darkness himself will show up. One Word Answer features the Queen of Louisiana. And in Gift Wrap, Sookie's great-grandfather gives her a Christmas gift like no other. These five light stories will keep readers happy until the next Sookie Stackhouse novel comes out in May, 2010. It would be helpful - but not necessary – for readers to have read some of the novels or watched True Blood, the television series based on the books. If not, A Touch of Dead would be a good introduction to Sookie Stackhouse and her Louisiana friends.
