Mo Willems has created a pop-out book that nearly defies description. Imagine a big green frog that actually extends beyond the pages of the book when you open the first page. Big Frog is so big her arms and legs don't fit inside the book. If only she were smaller and 'more bendable' she might squeeze between the pages.

Unfortunately, when you open the pages there she sits, towering above the red pages with her gangly, green arms crossed, and a tear trickling down her cheek. She just can't stand it! But her friends have an idea! (Pull two tabs and you'll see those friends.)

What they have in mind is to make the BOOK BIGGER! Thanks to Bruce Foster's clever paper engineering, that's actually possible. Voila! The problem is miraculously solved and Big Frog is now very happy.

Your child will also be delighted with the solution. This remarkable book will be one of his or her favorites as long as it holds up. And that, alas, is the problem. You must be careful with this book because it can be a challenge to close some of the pages (especially the last set) once they are opened.

Although this is intended for youngster fours years of age and older, mom and dad may have to supervise the use of the book so that it lasts for more than a day or two. If the pages are not refolded properly Big Frog will be really unhappy because now she certainly won't fit in at all!

As much as I like this book, it may be a little too ambitious for little fingers to easily manipulate. Although it seems sturdily constructed, it remains to be seen how long it will last with constant use.

On the other hand, those who collect this type of pop-out book (probably older kids and adults) will use it with care and be extremely delighted to add it to their collection.
