The book opens with Horrid Henry Eats a Vegetable, the picky eater making plenty of fuss and commotion over each bite. After his parents offer the carrot of a meal at Gobble and Go, Henry is committed to five nights of ingesting vegetables - will he make it through the week and win the prize? Next in Horrid Henry's Underpants, a late (pink and frilly) birthday present - you guessed it, underpants - arrives from Great-Aunt Greta (who thinks Henry is Henrietta!) He hides them in a drawer, but then in the morning rush for school, he grabs a pair of underpants without looking ... will Henry make it though the day without his underwear being outed? In Horrid Henry's Sick Day, when Peter is ill, Henry pretends to be sick too - but his day off school doesn't turn out to be as much fun as expected. Finally in Horrid Henry's Thank You Letter, Mom bans TV until Henry writes his Christmas thank-you letters - and insists on five sentences for each of them! Henry being Henry, he figures out a way to exploit the situation - the young entrepeneur goes into the thank-you letter business. But his customers aren't very happy with the results. The rebel in every reader, young and old, will revel in Horrid Henry's hilarious exploits, and be hungry for more.
