It poses questions that are answered by simply turning the half page. For example, 'How does a pig stay cool?' Flip the flap and there's the answer - 'A pig rolls in mud to stay cool and protect its skin from the sun.' A series of illustrations accompany each section and serve to reinforce the information the child will learn about sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, horses, goats and ducks. Not only does this picture book for children three and older encourage interaction with the text but it will also help develop language and literary skills as well as improve the youngster's understanding of the world of domestic animals. Soon your child will know that a baby goat is called a kid, that chickens scratch the ground to find insects and worms to eat, and that ducklings grow inside eggs until they hatch. Questioning is an important part of the educational process. This excellent book and the other titles in the I Wonder Why series will get your preschooler off to a good start and show him or her how to use the inquiry method.
