W
ho wouldn't appreciate a book about rear ends? Written by actor/comedian Michael Ian Black, this adorable, linguistically simple picture book features animals flaunting their backsides as they climb on top of each other to reach a beehive, presumably to help a bear obtain some honey.
U
sing clever rhyming or alliteration we are treated to a '
penguin patootie,
' a '
polar bear derriere,
' a '
turkey tushy,
' and, my personal favorite, a '
duck-billed platypus gluteus maximus.
'
T
he zany illustrations are a perfect match to this light-hearted romp (rump?). The animals' expressions are hilarious as various fannies are piled on top of their heads (I particularly got a kick out of the polar bear, who is holding his nose as the turkey's tushy rests on his head).
T
his is a book that will guarantee laughter among young and old alike. I will conclude this review in the same way that the author concluded his book:
The ends.
