For those unfamiliar with the book, it is a tribute to friendship. Short, simple words grace each page. Dainty pencil sketches featuring young children (alternating between color and black and white) accompany the text. Friends come in all shapes, sizes, and can even be inanimate objects, as this book reminds us: 'A tree can be a different kind of friend. It doesn't talk to you, but you know it likes you, because it gives you apples ... or pears ... or cherries ... or, sometimes, a place to swing.' Pocket-sized and perfect for gift-giving, this book retains its timeless message and will no doubt continue to please readers of all ages for many years to come.
