How would you feel if you heard that all day long? Probably a lot like Leo in the picture book, The Day Leo Said I Hate You! This latest release from children's author Robie H. Harris and illustrator Molly Bang deals with an over-exuberant child, Leo, who can't stop himself from such antics as rolling tomatoes across the floor and squeezing toothpaste down the toilet. When he hears, No! from his mother for the umpteenth time, he explodes, unleashing the dreaded H word on her. The story is a beautifully told lesson in frustration and forgiveness. Leo's mother has to explain the impact of the word, while showing her child she loves him all the same. Every reader is sure to relate to this sweet, tough time between mother and son. Bang's illustrations are a magnificent blend of drawing and photograph that are as captivating as the story. Long after the book is closed, you will be thinking about The Day Leo Said I Hate You!, picturing the illustrations in your mind. Is this a book you want to have on your shelves? Why, yes!
