fter reading
Birthday for Cow
by the same author, we were excited to open
The Doghouse
, in which Jan Thomas revisits some of the same characters as in
Birthday for Cow

I
n this totally entertaining romp, Mouse loses a ball in
THE DOGHOUSE!
He, being meek, is afraid to retrieve the ball, so he sends one animal after another into ...
THE DOGHOUSE!
However, the animals all go in, but they don't come out. The dog sticks his head out of
THE DOGHOUSE
and announces to Mouse that he is having duck for dinner! Gasp! Could he really be eating duck for dinner, or could
having
duck for dinner have another meaning?
T
homas employs simple words, a little suspense, lots of humor, and bold, almost child-like illustrations. Very few books make my four-year old giggle as much as this one, and she also uses this book to practice her early reading skills. I would buy any Jan Thomas picture book, sight unseen.
