FBI Special Agent Heather Wallace tracks a serial killer to New Orleans. The Cross Country Killer's most recent victim points directly to Club Hell, a nightclub owned by a young rock star who calls himself Dante.

Soon it becomes apparent that not only is Dante talented and beautiful, he is also a vampire. Heather doesn't believe in vampires, but the killer does. He kills the people Dante cares for as he moves closer to his intended prey Dante, himself. Dante doesn't know fear and he's not about to cooperate with Heather and her plan to shield him from whoever is killing his friends.

Heather falls in love with the young rock star while trying to understand how something as impossible as vampirism can be happening. Meanwhile, a conspiracy using Dante's cryptic past moves closer and closer.

In A Rush of Wings, Phoenix has written a tight mystery with vampires, fallen angels, vampire royalty and a government conspiracy that includes the FBI.
