T
his is a perfect book for little people - a unique, sturdy board book, each page illustrated by Yannick Robert like a painting. It introduces the wonderful
World of Colors
. The front cover features a farmer driving a
Red Tractor
, with a few barnyard friends hitching a ride.
T
he design of the book is unique, with die-cut
peek holes
beginning on the front cover and carried out to the last page. The holes are cut in different shapes, with some characters having more than one to grab on to. Each page names a color for the particular subject shown. We see an
orange hen
sitting on nest, a cheerful
gray donkey
, and a close-up of a
brown spotty cow
with a large pink nose, chewing grass. A team of mice are having fun playing in a
yellow haystack
as a
yellow tiger-stripe cat
looks on. My favorite color is used on the
purple door
of the farmhouse. What is your favorite color?
T
he last two pages of this appealing board book display all the colors and characters shown throughout. I am especially impressed by the die-cut holes, which are handy for little fingers to grasp while turning the pages.
