She begins, 'Imagine, / when you're half asleep, / those big white clouds / look just like sheep ...' She uses a race on a windy, sunny beach to present opposites: 'Imagine slow, / imagine fast, / Imagine first, / imagine last' and continues with contrasts around the world. This daylong exercise in imagination ends, 'Imagine dark, / Imagine light, / And now it's time to sleep. / Goodnight!' Ruth Brown's warm illustrations will linger in the minds of readers of all ages, while her book offers a rich lesson in contrasts.
