Two of Dennis Lee's sweet bedtime poems - Silverly and Good Night, Good Night - are accompanied by Nora Hilb's enchanting illustrations in this small board book, one of a set of Alligator Tales.

In the first of the pair, two small elves ride a large bird 'Silverly, / 'Silverly, / Over the trees' to peep through a window to a bedroom where 'A little girl / Dreams with the / Moon in her Head.' We see the duo again, nestled onto an elephant's tusk and trunk in the second poem, that begins, 'The dark is dreaming. / Day is done. / Good night, good night / To everyone' and continues to reveal a sleeping boy.

The little girl's bedtime reading is Good Night, Good Night, while Silverly rests on the boy's bedcovers. Both poems make sweet bedtime reading for wee ones.
