Four friends play Beat-the-Clock to get their chores done before Mom gets home. A pendulum clock in the background of the illustrations keeps track of how quickly they are working. Pots, socks, mops, hats and mats are all put away before the time is up.

Ovresat's cheerful illustrations show a lively clean-up crew with their supportive pets standing by. However, the clock face is often crooked making understanding difficult for young readers who are just beginning to recognize time and numbers.

This short, level one, getting-ready-to-read book with its easy-to-remember, rhyming words will encourage beginning readers to read and finish Tick Tock. However, the simplicity of the story does not encourage repeated reading.

Two simple but enjoyable activities are included to reinforce telling time and working together. The Walk with Me activity is sure to be a winner since it must be done with a friend.
