This beautifully written and illustrated children's book tells about his experiences on a farm in the 1950s. Mingled with text, family photographs enhanced by drawings allow children to picture exactly what the author is describing. Lewis discusses daily chores, activities, and events that took place. He fondly remembers different animals and seasons of the year. My children didn't seem very interested when they heard the title, but once we started reading they were enthralled. This book is a treasure and a way for children to relate to living on a farm over fifty years ago, comparing it to how different things are today. I Grew Up On A Farm is a delight that parents and grandparents will want to share with young readers in their lives.
