T
he illustrations of this whimsical picture book immediately set the mood. Russell of Frogsbottom Field - with his fuzzy barrel shaped body and amiably silly, sheepish face - makes you smile even before reading about his absurd antics.
U
nlike the other sheep, Russell just can't get to sleep. He tries everything, everywhere. The car trunk is cramped, the tree hollow creepy, and the branch crowded. '
What's a sheep to do?
' Count things of course. Too few feet and too many stars. What else will he count? Can you guess? Course you can.
Y
ou can't help but like Russell, feel for his problems, and chuckle at his attempted solutions.
Russell the Sheep
is a delightful bedtime book that also incorporates counting from one to ten - a picture book guaranteed to be in demand night after night.
