This gorgeously illustrated book takes us on an excavation through a boy's tackle-box. He tells us that 'What I need for a good day's fishing is in here somewhere!' What is he after? We rummage through the box together - to help understand its contents, a glossary at the back of the book explains 'the basic vocabulary of fishing'.

We find all sorts of things, and learn how they're used to catch different kinds of fish - a 'spinner' for 'yellow perch', a 'phoebe spoon' for 'pumpkinseed sunfish', 'bobbers and sinkers' for 'carp'. Digging through the tackle-box unearths hooks and line, rod and reel, flies and plugs, even an old sandwich - but finally the young fisherman finds what he needs most, and is ready to set off for A Good Day's Fishing.

Read this picture book together before that next fishing trip - learn the terms, fill the tackle-box, and don't forget the important thing needed 'for a good day's fishing'!
