Finally, a Christmas version of the author's popular Look-Alikes series. Joan Steiner has skillfully selected all kinds of everyday objects and then hidden them in the most surprising places in holiday scenes, in which 'all the things you thought you knew / Appear in some disguise ...'

There's a Winter Wonderland, a Nutcracker scene, Santa's Workshop, Grandma's Kitchen, Christmas Windows, a Cathedral, a Dollhouse, a Toy Train, and an outdoors New Year's Eve. Some things are easy to spot, like the erasers that make the chimney in the Winter Wonderland. Others blend in subtly (at least to my eyes), like the sunglasses in the Cathedral stained glass window.

At the back, Steiner includes craft ideas - to make cute 'Peanutty Bear Ornaments', 'Edible Elves', and charming gingerbread 'Cathedral Window Ornaments' (much easier than a gingerbread house!) There's also a look at how the scenes in the book were made, a list of all the items to be found, and an extra challenge to find the object common to all the pictures.

It's a perfect holiday gift for young and old, one in which one can truly say ... 'The more you look, the more you see!'
