s well as Pomella's adventures, readers follow those of her friend Sim, now a ranger and a plague carrier, as he seeks healing. They're also introduced to young, abused Shevia, who has found a place of refuge where she has made a very powerful friend. The foretelling power that friend gives her allows her to save her family from poisoning, but she ends up apprenticed to vicious Bhairatonix, High Mystic of Qin.
hey all come together in Kelt Apar, where the High Mystics meet, and end up on a quest together. There are battles and sacrifices, and eventually the identity of Shevia's
