Liz Garton Scanlon's Kate, Who Tamed the Wind is an engaging allegorical picture book in verse (breezily illustrated by Lee White) about 'a man living all alone in a creaky house on the tip-top of a steep hill.'

The wind begins to blow ... and blow ... and blow, harder and harder - and we see what happens. The man finally cries, 'What to do?' At the bottom of the hill, Kate hears him, and makes a clever plan to help the man at the top of the hill.

Environmentalists, young and old, will appreciate Kate, Who Tamed the Wind - the world needs more Kates as extreme weather grows ever stronger. And don't miss the note at the back of the book, More About Marvelous Trees.
