The 12 Engines of Christmas    by Random House Order:  USA  Can Random House, 2017 (2017) Hardcover      Reviewed by Hilary Williamson I've always loved the song, The Twelve Days of Christmas, and my two sons were fanatical collectors of Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends when they were little, so how could I resist The 12 Engines of Christmas? In this sturdy board book, young readers are encouraged to sing along with Thomas and his friends as they turn the pages. Thomas sees a 'big green star-topped Christmas tree', followed by Edward's sighting of '2 smiling snowmen' and the same tree. And so it goes with carol singers, presents, wreaths, candles, crackers, fruitcakes, candy canes, ornaments, snowflakes ... and finally twinkling lights. What a treat for fans of Thomas and friends! My copy goes under the tree for my sons, in the hope that it will bring back happy memories of childhood.
