The second installment of the Flying Furballs series finds flying partners Claude D'Bonair and Syd Fishus up to their whiskers in dangerous adventure. These two agents of the Cats Allied Troops (CAT) set out to destroy a mission to be carried out by the Dog Obedience Governed Zone (DOGZ).

Claude and Syd make a fine, if not unusual flying pair. They meet adventures with humor, such as when the duo were flying their bi-plane in weather so bad that Syd couldn't 'see further than a flea can fart.' That's poor visibility indeed!

Enhancing this story about the tensions between CAT and DOGZ are the black and white illustrations that accompany each chapter. Readers ages seven to nine years old will enjoy the depictions of dogs skiing down mountainsides in the Swiss Alps, and the high flying CAT adventures aboard the dangerous Nike Airship.

I was easily absorbed in this entertaining read and its funny, action-packed story. Set in Europe during 1916, CAT pilots Claude and Syd must figure out and thwart the DOGZ project Nike objective. The story is loosely based on events of World War I, the CATs representing the Allied Forces, while the DOGZ represent the German troops.
