Juliet's Mum is a vet. Juliet likes to shadow Mum at work. She watches, listens, and helps her Mum care for sick and injured animals. Juliet, always a good helper, even has her very own vet supply bag.

An epic rain storm moves in and soon the paddocks nearby are flooding, stranding all kinds of critters. Armed with Mum's good towels, and accompanied by best friend Chelsea, Juliet does what she can to help. Along with Mum, Dad, and brother Max, the girls aid in rescuing stranded alpacas. But Juliet wants to be sure all animals, from stick insects to echidnas, are safe. Juliet, Chelsea, Max, and even squeamish Dad, who is no fan of creepy crawlies, save a plethora of wild animals.

Children eight to ten years old will enjoy this illustrated chapter book. Throughout the book Juliet gives readers all kinds of tips on handling animals, both domestic and wild. While taking a peek into Juliet's vet journal, readers will also discover all kinds of information about the exotic wildlife of Australia.

An avid animal lover myself, I enjoyed joining Juliet on her adventures in this easy-to-read, pleasurable book. I did, though, find it rather gross when little Max got covered in alpaca spit! I had a giggle at Dad's reaction to a field mouse and even picked up a few more tips about soothing scared animals.
