Boris is convinced he can do anything and top all the other frogs in his pond. Whether it is croaking, jumping or swimming, Boris can outdo his friends. More to the point, Boris's fellow frogs are really tired of hearing Boris brag about his prowess.

Soon Boris discovered that his friends were avoiding him but did he tone down his bragging? No! He alienated other creatures like a grasshopper, lizard and little bird who also lived near his pond.

It wasn't until Boris met a big toad that he finally met his match. When Boris tried to outdo the toad he finally encountered someone he could not top and the result was disastrous for the boastful frog.

Big, bold illustrations not only bring this cautionary tale to life, but they also set up the scenario that results in Boris's final fall. This is not only a humorous story young readers will find amusing - there's a solid message here too that you'll want to discuss with your child.
