She uses the same technique as before in Merry Christmas, Squirrels!, creating miniature handmade sets and then photographing the squirrels in action on her deck in Nova Scotia. First the author introduces Mr. Peanuts, 'a most unusual squirrel' who is full of Christmas spirit. After Cousin Squirrel invites him to visit, he packs up and heads out. They snowshoe and go sledding; build a snowman, igloo and gingerbread train; roast chestnuts on a campfire; share holiday books (including 'Twas the Nut Before Christmas) and open their gifts together on Christmas morning. It's the very real critters and the well designed mini sets that make this a delightful holiday read that youngsters will return to again and again. Note there are also six squirrel-y gift tags at the back of the book to attach to presents.
