is a very complex historical fantasy, full of magic and evil, with twists around every corner. Fletcher has created an atmosphere that lends itself well to this type of dark Victorian fantasy. He has also created very memorable characters who leap off the page. While some main plot points are resolved by the end of this book, others have barely been uncovered, leaving many mysteries for the rest of the trilogy.
