You'll love this picture book about a little boy who chronicles the snow-storm that hits his home and isolates it for a number of days. The snow is so deep the plows don't make it to his neighborhood for four days.

What began as a fun day, with no school and snow play, becomes a little more serious as the boy’s family runs low on food. But the resourceful youngster comes up with a plan to help not only his parents but also the neighbors.

Excellent illustrations capture the blizzard and its aftermath. Children in areas where snow is a common winter event will love this book as much as those of us who live along the coastal areas. Because we don't see weather like this doesn't mean our children aren't curious about snowstorms.

This picture book will appeal to a broad audience and it also underscores that lots of snow doesn't mean lots of fun for children. Although I live in California where drought is our current problem, I grew up in Minnesota and remember how much of a challenge a blizzard could be. This book revived the frigid memories!
