T
his lovely picture book opens with a single bear learning to forage for himself. As autumn arrives, the bear meets a female bear and the two begin to prepare for the oncoming winter months. As the temperature drops and snow begins to fall, the two bears head for a safe cave where they snuggle together and hibernate for the winter.
S
pring not only brings the two bears out of their cave but it also welcomes their cub. Now they are a family and the two bears must teach their offspring how to manage in his new world.
T
he illustrations are excellent and this story follows the bears through the change of seasons. Since it is for small children (three and older), the author doesn't really detail how two bears enter the cave and three emerge. She leaves that question, if it comes up, for mom or dad to answer!
