F
reeman and Chizmer have both had a long association with Cemetery Dance and have put together this collection knowing what kind of stories grab readers' attention.
S
tephen King kicks it off with
The Weeds
, where a farmer's hoarding of a meteorite brings unforeseen consequences. Kelley Armstrong's
The Price You Pay
takes childhood friendship to a new extreme. In
Magic Eyes
, hiding in an asylum to avoid invaders might not have been the best choice. In Simon Clark's
Murder in Chains
, a man finds himself chained to a rampaging lunatic with no way out. And in
The Watched
by Ramsey Campbell, a little boy discovers that keeping secrets has a price.
D
ark Screams
packs a nice little punch, although some King fans might be disappointed once they realize that
Weeds
is a reprint from one of his earlier anthologies. Happily, it's just as creepy the second time around. Armstrong delivers another strong entry, as does Simon Clark. My only quibble is that the collection was far too short!
