His job is to wake up Farmer Tim and his family every morning with a 'Cock-a-doodle-doo!' But Rupert has a hard time waking up himself each day. When he complains to his friend, Sherman the sheep, his buddy says, 'Why don't you teach me how to crow? I'll wake everybody up and you can sleep late!'

This may sound like a solution to Rupert's problem but everyone knows sheep can't crow like roosters. But no matter! When the well-meaning Sherman assumes the wake-up chore, things don't go according to plan. In fact, as you'll see, the barnyard animals and Farmer Tim's family are in for a real surprise.

Rupert realizes that he can't delegate the task of the morning wake-up call but perhaps, more importantly, Sherman and his fellow sheep discover a new talent. It is perhaps not what you expect when you begin reading this picture book but it is a pleasant surprise.

Cartoonist Mike Twohy's wry humor and his amusing illustrations make this not only an entertaining story but one both children and adults will enjoy reading together.
