Not only do birds and some animals love nibbling on various types of seeds but humans do also. Various nuts, beans, grains and spices are all seeds that are also part of our everyday diet. As your child pages through this picture book with large photos of various types of edible seeds, he or she will be amazed at just how many seeds find their way to the dinner table.

Black beans, lentils, chickpeas, kidney and lima beans, soybeans, black-eyed peas, and hazelnuts are just some of the tasty seeds pictured here along with rice, other kinds of delicious nuts, and a whole range of grains. The spice rack is full too with cumin, vanilla, mustard, cardamom, carob, and coriander.

After gazing at this big, bold celebration of seeds, you find a couple of concluding pages that address seedy topics like nut allergies, planting seeds, seeds for spreads, breads and noodles and why seeds are a healthy food and so good for us.

After you've enjoyed this book with your son or daughter, try doing a seed hunt in the kitchen to see how many seeds you have stored there. Also, at your next meal, point out how many seeds are included in the dishes you have before you.
