'For those of you who don't know, a caper is a tiny pickled sourpuss, who lives in a tiny jar in your fridge and is never eaten by children. Of course, everyone knows what a lollipop is, which is why Mr. Caper is so angry.'

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, we can begin! This humorous picture book for children four years of age and older is about Mr. Caper and his attempt to make children like him. Not content that adults 'admire Mr. Caper's acidic earthiness', our main character launches a campaign to make children appreciate his unique flavor.

Mr. Caper hatches a plan to sneak into a lollipop factory and alter the lollipop batter by adding a green formula that will make every lollipop taste like a caper. Of course, the plan backfires when the green lollipops with their not so pleasant caper flavor make children behave in the 'most appalling ways'.

Instead of making everyone love him, Mr. Caper finds that now not only children but also their parents are upset. The plan totally backfires and our little hero is a total outcast.

Of course Mr. Lollipop comes to the rescue and salvages the situation and Mr. Caper's reputation. I'll let you read the story to discover how Mr. Lollipop saves the day and also convinces Mr. Caper that it is OK to be 'earthy and acidic'.

A sweet story about not only jealousy but also self-esteem, The Great Lollipop Caper will have children and their parents chuckling as they read about Mr. Caper's misadventures. This might also be a fun gift to give any of your foodie friends who have a sense of humor.
