The contents of this book are arranged in four sections. There's The Breakfast Book, The Seaside Book, The Doctor Book and The Bedtime Book. In each section you'll find nonsensical, free verse stories or rhymes about such things as hard-boiled eggs that turn into hard-boiled legs (then they jump off the breakfast table and run away) and a doctor who asks her patient, 'What's wrong with me? I'm really ill.'

You'll also meet Nat and Anna. This brother and sister duo appear in a number of humorous scenarios. Jumping John, Kicking Kirsty, Mad Mickey and Fat Fred also make cameo appearances, as do a number of other nameless but amusing characters.

The whimsical material found in this book may not appeal that much to adults, but children four years of age and older will probably find it laugh-out-loud funny. Kids love to act silly and read about silly stuff and this book fits the silly stuff criteria perfectly. Quentin Blake's quirky illustrations are perfectly matched with Michael Rosen's wacky text.
