Basher's signature characters act as guides in explaining how the weather works and what types of extreme weather can occur. You'll meet El Nino, Weather Front, Jet Stream, Forecast and a host of other characters who will explain what role they play in creating weather and climate conditions.

'C'mon, everybody, let's do the twist!' says Tornado. 'I love to dance, and I long to pick you up and spin you around. But, to be honest, I know I'll just trash the place!'

Make sure to check the bottom of each page of the narrative because you'll discover some fascinating facts. For example, you'll learn that the longesdt tornado travelled 219 miles (352km) in 1925 and that the longest lasting rainbow lasted three hours and was seen in Wales in 1979.

There is also a very cool Weather Center chart that can be detached from the book and placed in a special spot in the child's room. A fun way to introduce a child to some basic facts about weather, this book will explain some of the conditions and vocabulary the child will see and hear discussed on the evening weather forecasts on television.

You may wish to set up a backyard weather station after you've read this book with your child a few times or keep a daily weather journal to chart local conditions.
