Actress Julie Andrews and her daughter collaborated on this collection of poetry. Together they have selected an array of short poems and songs that celebrate each month of the year, plus special occasions such as birthdays.

Andrews opens each section with a personal letter to the reader sharing her own memories of celebrations with her children and grandchildren.

Over 75 poets and songwriters are represented in this anthology. The list includes Robert Frost, Dr. Seuss, E.B. White, Ogden Nash and Emily Dickinson, as well as Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter, and Barbara Juster Esbensen.

Marjorie Priceman's colorful art frames each poem and song, thus making each page attractive and pleasing to the eye. Besides poems that capture the essence of each month, season and holiday, you'll find special selections that focus on birthdays, new babies, rites of passage/coming of age, and the Sabbath and Shabbat.

Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras, George Washington's Birthday, Flag Day, Ramadan, Kwanzana and Thanksgiving are just some of the celebrations that are covered by poems in this collection.

Parents, grandparents and teachers looking for a comprehensive collection of short, fun poetry and songs will find this a special book to share with youngsters of all ages, but especially those who are in the primary grades. Whatever the occasion, from the first day of school to a death in the family, there's probably a poem here that addresses the event.
