The holidays are a mix of two traditions for Sadie. While her father sets up the Christmas tree for Sadie to decorate, her mother places a menorah on the fireplace mantle.

Latkes, jelly donuts, and cranberry kugel dressing along with turkey appear on the dining room table to share when the family gathers. Gifts are placed under the tree for the eight nights of Hanukkah along with a pile of Christmas presents.

Uncle Zachary recalls the miracle of the oil while Aunt Faith tells the story of the manger. Everyone listens with rapt attention to these wonderful tales.

On Christmas morning Sadie opens her gifts while her parents watch with big smiles on their faces. 'How lucky am I?' asks Sadie. Very lucky indeed!

This picture book not only combines the Jewish and Christian holiday traditions in a nice package but also offers a bonus – the recipe for making cranberry kugel. Now it doesn't get any better than that!
