Of course you have heard about haunted houses, but have you ever encountered a haunted book? In this picture book I'll introduce you to the type of supernatural creature that haunts books.

First, I'll give you some guidelines for figuring out if you own a book that is haunted. If some odd things happen, like scrambled words, there's a good chance your book is harboring a ghost. Also, if the book feels cool against your ear, that is also a pretty good indication that the volume is haunted.

Now, once we have determined that your book is haunted, the next thing I have to explain to you is what to do with it. First and foremost, pretend that you are afraid. Failing to do so will make the ghost try every trick he can think of to frighten you.

And, whatever you do, never say, 'I don't believe in ghosts!' That kind of comment will have disastrous consequences. While I'm at it I should also warn you never to read a haunted book during a thunderstorm, when there is a full moon, or on Halloween.

What could happen if you make one of these mistakes? There's a good chance you will be sucked up into the book. Now if that should happen, I'll let you read the rest of my picture book to see how you can deal with the situation. You'll also get a visual reminder of what will occur if you leave a haunted book unread for too long and the ghost becomes bored! Trust me, that's something you don't want to let happen.

Well, that's about it. By the time you have finished my story you'll be an expert on haunted books and how to deal with the ghosts that live in these tomes. Have fun and enjoy reading The Boo! Book.
