How many times have you asked a child what he or she wants to be when he/she grows up? Well, Nanette Newman reverses the situation in this humorous picture book.

One day Lily asks her grandmother, 'What do you think you'll be when you grow up?'

'Well,' said her grandma, 'a lot of people think I've grown up already.'

'Oh, no,' said Lily. 'You've still got a long way to go.'

Now the fun begins as Lily suggests a number of possibilities for her grandmother. 'You could be a lady who goes to schools and says. 'No more lessons today. Everyone go and play.' Or, you could grow wings and fly around the world making sure people are nice to their cats and dogs like I am.'

The ideas just keep pouring out of the imaginative little girl. Perhaps her grandmother would like to be an artist and paint butterflies on people. Perhaps she'd like to be a doctor, a gardener, or a lollipop lady?

Finally the two settle on what Lily's grandmother feels is the best option. 'I'd like to be a lady with a little granddaughter named Lily whom she loves from the top of her head to the tips of her toes,' says the woman.

'Yes,' said Lily. 'I think you'd be very good at that.'

This wonderful book illustrates the special relationship that exists between a grandmother and her grandchild. It is one that both generations will enjoy sharing together.
