Sort of like octopus sushi.' Much to his discomfort, this young rogue just learned an important lesson – don't mess with Mallory Caine! Not only is this not unattractive young woman a lawyer but she also happens to be a flesh eating zombie. And when Mallory takes a 'bite out of crime', she does so literally! In this second novel in K. Bennett's new series starring Mallory Caine, Zombie at Law, dear Mallory has a very full plate. First there's the little boy who claims his mother wants to eat him. Since mom is a monster and a Satanic ritual seems to be at the root of the problem, there may be some truth to the ten year old's claim! Besides being caught up in this family of freaks and fire-breathing demons, there's the problem of Mallory's own familial ties. She has to defend her zombie hunting father in court, which does place a little stress on the relationship between lawyer and client. Oh yes, then there's the ghost of Darren McGavin, who offers to help out in the courtroom and perhaps breathe some life into the proceedings. There's definitely a motley crew assembled for this second installment of the Caine capers, but you'll meet the rest of them when you sink your teeth into this offbeat adventure.
