If you've ever wondered if your life has run off the rails, here's a handy quiz.
Is the only person left in the universe you can go to for help someone even God doesn't want to talk about?
Is the only alliance left to you with a gang that eats and shits chaos?
Are you about to drunk-dial the only guy in Creation who's probably more despised than you?
If you answered yes to any of these, then you should seek psychiatric help. If you answered yes to all of them, you're me.

Y
up, as you can see James Stark, a.k.a. Sandman Slim, Richard Kadrey's indomitable anti-hero, is back. You'll recall that in
Kill the Dead
Slim tackled a zombie plague and had to cope with being Lucifer's bodyguard (not that he really needed one!)
W
ell, Stark has an equally bizarre assignment facing him. He's battled both angel and devils in the past and he must give up his self-imposed anti-infernal exile and head back down to his old stomping grounds in L.A. to rescue his long-lost love and stop a sadist hell-bent on destruction.
O
h yes, and while he's at it, Sandman Slim is also tasked with preventing Good and Evil from totally destroying each other and making sure that the demonic Kissi doesn't ruin the party for everyone!
D
iana Gill, the Executive Editor of Harper Voyager, has described this novel as '
Dante's Inferno crossed with The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
' and she's not far off the mark here. Profane, sacrilegious and, at times, quite funny, this edgy exploration of good and evil operates on a surreal level unmatched in fiction today.
S
an Francisco based writer Richard Kadrey has authored a few comic books, seven novels and many articles on technology and culture for print publications. Although he's also been immortalized as the subject of a very unattractive action figure, there's little doubt that Kadrey's finest moment and real claim to fame is the creation of this series featuring Sandman Slim.
