When you arrive in Bookworld - an imaginary island where the different literary genres are on the brink of civil war - you discover that the infamous literary detective Thursday Next is missing. If disaster is to be averted among all the hardcovers and paperbacks, a different sleuth - the written Thursday - must search for answers to the real Thursday's mysterious disappearance. With plenty of strange clues and red herrings - both of the real and imagined varieties - all that happens in written Thursday's world is rather hard to describe without revealing too much of the bizarre plot. It is sufficient to say that a fun-filled tsunami of literary allusions, figurative language, incredible characters, outrageous puns, and other word-games will sweep you away in this erudite entertainment. Anyone who loves the world of books should thoroughly enjoy One of Our Thursdays Is Missing.
