Lily is a cute little girl who doesn't relish trying something new. So when her father tells the child her mother is sick and she'll have to spend the day at the neighbor's house, Lily is not too thrilled. She quite emphatically responds, 'Don't want to go!'

If you have a youngster who balks at trying new experiences then you'll appreciate what happens next. Since she doesn't want to spend the day with the neighbor and her child, Lily doesn't intend to cooperate. 'Don't want to!' becomes Lily's response to any activity the woman suggests. But, thanks to a friendly dog and a toddler who makes Lily laugh, the little girl is won over.

Luckily, Lily has discovered this new experience is actually quite pleasurable. Playing with her new little friend and the dog, helping his mother feed the child at lunchtime, and scrapbooking while the little one naps are all activities Lily really enjoys.

You won't be surprised, then, to discover that when her father arrives to take Lily home, he hears, 'Don't want to go!' This clever story shows how the neighbor subtly wins Lily over and makes the child less fearful of trying something new. This might be a helpful book to get your child over his or her reluctance to engage in new experiences.
