When his concerned teacher suggested testing, 'No tests, Edward's mother wrote back. Patience.' On Christmas Eve, as his dad reads his favorite story to him, Edward wonders how Santa Claus remembers all the boys' and girls' names, where they live, and what presents to give them - his mother suggests that perhaps Santa 'has it all written down in a book.' After the presents are left that night, Edward finds that special book in front of the fireplace. Anxious, he signals Santa, who asks him to come along and help when Santa forgets something. Though Edward admits he can't read, Santa wants him to go along and hold the book open anyway. Edward holds the book and follows along as Santa reads, '"Pablo Lopez ... paint set" and "Lucy Wells ... baseball mitt"'. But when Santa loses his glasses, he really needs help. Will Edward be able to read Santa's Book of Names? What do you think?
