Where has this author been? Spooky Little Girl is Laurie Notaro's eighth book. I can't believe it took me this long to find her. What a hoot! I look forward to acquiring and reading her first seven.

Lucy Fisher arrives home from a Hawaiian vacation to find all her belongings decorating the front lawn of the house she shares with Martin. Next she is accused of stealing money from her dentist boss and is fired. Then she's hit by a bus and that should be all she wrote.

But! No! She died, of course and is now in ghost training. Not in hell nor in heaven but in a sort of between floors school for ghosts. She has to accomplish a task before she will be allowed to continue on her journey to eternal bliss.

Her life – or death? – as a ghost makes me look forward to the afterlife. She meets up with her grandmother and between them they try to scare Nola (the woman who has taken over Lucy's boyfriend) out of the house Lucy once lived in.

Lucy's efforts to banish Nola are met with a psychic to banish her from the house. The ensuing exorcism is fun and funny. As is the whole of this delightful novel. It's nice to step out of the box once in a while. I normally don't read paranormal writings but couldn't resist this one. Mysteries are my bag.

Need a break from the stress of everyday life? Read Spooky Little Girl - relax, put your feet up, and give yourself over to hedonism. Enjoy a few hours with quirky characters as well as ones as normal as you and I. Well, my grandchildren do refer to me as their weird grandmother. But you get the idea.
